DOORS

For an elderly person living alone in any given city on the great plains, a closed door represents one of the last acts of control in keeping an unrelenting world at bay. Isolating themselves behind this thin protective barrier, some inner city elderly citizens live out the most important moments of their final days in dilapidated buildings without human contact of any kind.

Almost one-third of the elderly residing on the plains will not see a loved one or have a conversation with anyone this month.
