There’s a certain heaviness that permeates a small town that is struggling to survive. Like caring for a terminally-ill loved one, it’s hard to keep your spirits up when you know that tomorrow isn’t going to be better than today. And when people don’t believe that tomorrow will bring something better than today, everyone starts preparing for the end.

Since the early 1920’s, more than one-third of the population has migrated away from the Great Plains creating hundreds of ghost towns.
