Most people talk about conviction, but very few actually live it. To live with conviction means letting people know what you believe in, whether it’s popular or not. And, in a time when most of us care far more about what other people think rather than what we believe in, to live with true conviction requires courage…a truckload of it.

Certainly, conviction must be tempered with care and concern for others. It is simply unacceptable to wreak havoc and inflict hurt on others–all in the name of conviction. But assuming another’s well-being is not jeopardized by an individual’s actions, liberty and conviction take center stage.

Whether you agree with how someone lives their life is a topic worthy of much discussion. In fact, it’s probably a pretty healthy thing to challenge other’s beliefs and, at the same time, be open and willing to have yours challenged as well. But at the end of the day, when all the tongues are tired, who we are is largely defined by the strength of our personal convictions and how we actually live them out.

You have to hand it to those who can do it–whether you agree with them or not.
