There’s little question in anyone’s mind that boxing is a violent sport. To compete, you have to be willing to stand toe-to-toe with an opponent who wants to take you to the canvas. No matter what the age, boxing is one of the few encounters in life where you have to bring your “A” game every time you compete–or face the serious and painful consequences.

But in the midst of this ultimate–and public–test of wills, there is beauty. Today’s guest post perfectly illustrates this observation.

Captured by Brit Leffelman, today’s photographs reveal the very moving bond between fighter and coach. And, as a spectator and fan, one can’t help but be moved by the mutual energy, intensity, respect and love that is demonstrated in this relationship.
