Nattalie Hansen passed by the display window at Lawson’s Department Store everyday of her working life.
“Such nice things they put in the window! Sometimes I’d just stop and stare. Dresses, scarves, shoes, hats…you name it, Lawson’s had it.”
“I couldn’t wait for the first Friday of the month–that’s when Mr. Lawson would change the display. I’d have to get everything cleaned up quick and make sure the kids were off to school so I’d have a few extra minutes to get a good look at all the latest styles.”
“The time went by so fast when I was looking in the window. Most days I’d have to run to work just to get there on time. I’m ashamed to admit it but I’d spend the rest of the day thinking about what it would be like to have nice clothes like that. That would’ve been something.”
Working at the local Creamery for nearly 30 years, Nattalie Hansen never had the discretionary income to purchase much from Lawson’s Department Store. Despite having to go without, Nattalie Hansen’s heart is full. She still loves to window shop.
