Highway 278 is a lonesome stretch of road that gently makes its way through the Nevada desert. Spanning more than90 miles of abandoned and forgotten territory, during the daylight hours the drive between Carlin and Eureka is both beautiful and relaxing.
At night, it’s a whole different story.
Under the light of a full moon, the Nevada desert takes on an eerie glow. And the things that you would normally pass by during the daylight hours, capture your complete attention after the darkness falls.
To be perfectly honest, I am not sure why the Nevada desert is a spooky place at night. All I can really tell you is that it just is. And if you ever get the chance to drive the stretch of road south to Eureka, take it.

Leave a note.
