“Not only is another world possible, she is on her way.
On a quiet day, you can hear her breathing.”

~A. Roy

From 1830 to 1895, thousands upon thousands of people made their way west across the United States in search of a better life. Undaunted in the face of imminent danger, life-threatening illness, spartan living conditions, and heartbreaking misfortune, the early settlers left us a visual legacy affirming that life–even with all of its sorrows–is good; that the journey is just as important as the destination; and that–if we listen carefully–we can hear celestial voices reassuring us that, one day soon, there will be rest and abundance for us all.
