HIGHWAY 191

Photographs by David Hunnicutt

How many miles did we wander?
How many nights did we drive on through?
We traveled the roads like rolling thunder
And none of them went anywhere that we wanted them to

~Josh Cunningham

Highway 191 is a lonesome stretch of road that runs from just west of Bozeman to the southwestern tip of Montana where the State finally gives way to Wyoming and Idaho. And although Highway 191 runs on for more than a hundred miles, it really doesn’t go anywhere–metaphorically like a lot of other things in life.
