~Prologue From Episode 18 of The Twilight Zone, The Last Flight, February 5th, 1960
The Convair F-102 Delta Dagger fighter aircraft was part of the backbone of the United States air defenses in the late 1950s. Entering service in 1956, its main purpose was to intercept invading Soviet bomber fleets. Plagued by problems in later models, the production of this aircraft was ultimately discontinued under orders issued by the Secretary of Defense. The F-102’s last official flight was in November of 1976.
In something almost out of the Twilight Zone, a vintage Convair F-102 Delta Dagger flies eternally in the park just off of Main Street in Creighton, NE (pop. 1,176).
