Beauty never slumbers;
All is in her name;
But the rose remembers
The dust from which it came.
~Edna St. Vincent Millay
On the dilapidated and largely-forgotten Mainstreet in Virginia, NE (pop. 67), remarkable remnants of a once-thriving community still stand. Sadly, for those who still remain, they are coming to the harsh realization that the rose, does indeed, remember the dust from which it came.

What a shot. I love the texture and can truly picture what this place looked like when it was thriving.
It does makes me wonder though if the 67 folks in Virginia, NE can see the drastic change…or if they’ve closed their eyes to it and don’t even realize what or how this happened?
