NIGHT NEVER ENDING

Photographs by David Hunnicutt

Sometimes the hurt is so deep
That you think you’re gonna drown
And sometimes all you can do is weep
When all this rain keeps falling down

~Patty Griffin

There are a lot of sad stories in this world. But perhaps none are quite so tragic as the ones where hard times turn kindred spirits against one another. And as difficult as warring hearts can be, nothing can compare to the emptiness that’s left behind when things finally fall apart.

In a threadbare house on a failing 46-acre spread of land in southern Nebraska, a lonely woman does her best to make it through the days. And although her bed seemed inconsolably small for more than twenty six years, she’s come to realize that it’s far larger than she could have ever possibly imagined.
