“Some time, in some age, bodies of men and women had been buried here, houses had stood here, most had fallen and gone back into the earth. And so also would every house, at some appointed time, return into the earth. Each had his turn at this place…but out of the land we came and into it we must go.”
~Pearl S. Buck, taken from the novel ‘The Good Earth’
Now a long forgotten ghost town, Bannack is an abandoned gold rush settlement located in the southwestern portion of Montana. Littered with reminders of the early settlers who came before us, Bannack is a lonely and somber place. Wandering through the buildings, it’s evident that each resident had a rightful turn to do good upon this earth. Judging by the number of ghosts that still haunt this place, it appears that most wish they had a second chance.
