And it was summer time
Sweet summer time
Wonderin’
Felt the lightning
And we waited on the thunder

~Bob Seger, Night Moves

The year was 1976.

And for the approximately eight million babies who were born in the U.S. in 1960, all of us were in various stages of being 16.

Now maybe I’m the exception here, but I thought being 16 was great.

There were no wars to speak of.  Gas was 59 cents a gallon.  The drug of choice was polyester.  And Bob Seger had just released his classic album, Night Moves.

In fact, now that I think about it, Night Moves may have indeed been one of the greatest albums ever released.

For those who have been living off the grid for a couple of decades and need a quick refresher, Seger’s title song “Night Moves” was a highly evocative, nostalgic, timeless tale that, in essence, captured the exact sentiment of what it was like growing up in northern Minnesota in the mid 70’s.

When I look back on it after all these years, there may have never been a better time to be 16 than 1976.

Man, I miss those days.
