“Pay no mind to the distant thunder…”

~James Hetfield, Metallica

Every time I photograph bull riders, I have to remind myself to close my mouth.  And even after doing it for several years now, it never gets old.  When a 200 pound man lowers themselves onto a 2,000 pound bull, the tension becomes palpable.  Everything revolves around the here and now.  And when that gate is kicked opened and bull and rider emerge from the bucking chute, the madness begins.

There is no more intense sport than this–anywhere.
