AN HOMAGE TO EDWARD

“If you could say it in words there would be no reason to paint.”

~Edward Hopper, American Painter

The hum of the neon rolls thick through the weathered glass tubing and, under an unusually warm November sky, all I can think about is the genius of Edward Hopper.  One of the great American painters, Hopper made his living painting scenes depicting the lonely and disenfranchised.  Standing on the sidewalk in front of the mythical Fargo Theater, there’s no question what’s in my lens is Hopper incarnate.  Deriving his subject matter from the common features of American life, Hopper stirred the emotions of a nation with his work–to this day his paintings continue to dominate the American art scene.

And tonight I’m paying homage.
