I took this photograph back in May of 2007 at the Nebraska High School Rodeo Championships in Burwell, NE. To be sure, the bull rider depicted here was indeed 17 and he was, without question, completely and certifiably insane. Man, what I wouldn’t give to be 17 and completely oblivious to the concept of bodily harm again.
Truth be told, I love everything about this gem of a photograph–the memory, the experience, the company, the rush, the whole damn thing. In fact, I wrote in my photo journal at the time, “Sometimes you have a memory so special you’ll want to carry it around for months–I’m betting this will be one of those kind of memories.”
Even after almost three full years, it still feels good.
