“There’s no friend like an old friend.”

~James Joyce

One late October afternoon, when the apples had fallen ruby red, when the crickets were rustling sweet in the tall grass and the sky was ablaze all the way down to the horizon line, I sat in the orchards among the towering trees and fell in love all over again–In love with nature, in love with the earth and in love with life.  Strangely, it wasn’t a conscious event. Rather, it unfolded quietly, almost by accident, creeping up on me quietly, embracing me like a long lost friend.

It’s remarkable what can happen when the apples fall ruby red.
