WOMEN OF INFINITE BEAUTY

Most people will look at these hands and see a woman who is growing old—it is a weakness in all of us where we have been led to believe that youth is to be desired above all things.  But what we should see is not a woman who is getting on in years but rather a breathtakingly beautiful woman who has weathered all of life’s storms with grace and dignity; with humility and gentility; with peace and contentment.

What we should see is a woman who deserves to be admired because of her perseverance, her wisdom, her compassion.

What we should see is a woman who has seen us at our very worst, cared for us when we have been most vulnerable, and loved us when we have demonstrated ourselves to be unlovable.

What we should see is a woman of infinite beauty; someone who, to paraphrase the words of Robert Heinlen, has never grown older than 18 in her heart.

Today, let us celebrate women of infinite beauty.
